I wrote this song in the middle of the night while my partner was on tour. Sitting up in bed and looking at her dog (then a stranger to me) I lamented all the time we were missing out on while she was away. I picked up my phone to call my sister to assuage my sadness, then remembered she lived abroad and the time difference was off. Stranded in the wide landscape of my partner's bed, I poured out my loneliness and the frustration of patiently waiting for things to change.

Over the years this song has evolved and adapted to describe many ways of longing and missing, enveloping everything from my relationship to identity, my distanced family in India, to ex-lovers, to India the subcontinent itself.
